SUMMARY
The Geomet is a futuristically shaped lamp inspired by the Japanese art of origami. The lamp is lasercut and easily folded from a sheet of polypropylene and immediately catches your eye when you enter the room.
The design brief for this assignment was to design a lamp made from a single sheet of polypropylene plastic that can be produced by only using a laser cutting machine and folding techniques. I attempted to create a futuristic and intriguing looking lamp that is noticed right away and can also serve as a piece of art. When designing this lamp I also tried to minimise the amount of material loss when lasercutting the polypropylene sheet. This lamp design was one of a few designs chosen for an after school exhibition.
